Join us for a weekend with nationally recognized ceramic artist, Steven Hill.
In this workshop, working along with Steven, you will throw, alter and work with decorative slip. He will discuss his philosophy on making pottery, while throwing, assembling and decorating his forms and will demonstrate the techniques he’s well known for.
The focus will be on spouts, handles, form, surface and the relationship of all these elements. Steven will demonstrate pouring vessels, bowls, mugs, yunomis and other forms over the course of the weekend and students will concentrate on the forms that inspire them the most. He will also discuss the glazing techniques he used to achieve the kind of richness and surface variation in electric kiln firings that potters have come to associate with fuel burning kilns and reduction firing.
